Bearded Collie Puppy

A Bearded Collie puppy is not a pet for every family. Prior to introducing a dog of this breed into your family, you have to learn much on the breed and take into consideration its personality, keeping requirements, and exercise needs. Like all herding dogs, Bearded Collies are very intelligent and friendly, but it doesn’t make them easy to housebreak and train. Intelligent, self-assured, and independent dogs need knowledgeable and experienced owners who are able to motivate the dog. Harsh methods of training and dull, repetitive exercises are not for this breed. If not interested and motivated, a Bearded Collie will refuse to obey, but it doesn’t mean that the dog doesn’t understand what is required from it.

Talking to various breeders and several owners of a Bearded Collie puppy is a must when making a final decision on purchasing a dog of this breed. Seeing purebred dogs of this breed performing in a show will create the wrong image of the breed. Purebred dogs are specially groomed and trained for the show ring. Buying a purebred puppy doesn’t mean that it will grow into a show quality dog. More than that, a purchasing price for a puppy is just a beginning. Responsible dog ownership implies spending much on high quality food, vet services, professional training, toys, and other things a dog needs.

The ideal age for a Bearded Collie puppy to be taken to the new home is 7-8 weeks. It’s possible to visit the kennel several times to see how the puppies develop and interact with each other and with humans. It’s important to evaluate the temperament and activity level of the puppy prior to purchasing it. All reputable breeders keep their puppies in a stress-free atmosphere and start socializing them at the early age.

All purebred puppies are sold with a pedigree, health guarantee, and registration papers. Pet quality puppies retain the personality, working abilities, and conformation of the breed, but they cannot be bred and shown because of minor defects. A Bearded Collie puppy of a pet quality makes a loving companion for people of all walks of life.
